Even though my first visit to New York (in May 2005) was literally a matter of days after the dismantling of “The Gates,” I had voraciously read about the work of these two artists, their love for each other & what they believed in, and I felt strengthened by the knowledge that there was art out there that was massive, invasive without violence, stunning in its simplicity.
