Dear 53%ers:
Congratulations on all your success. I mean that. But all this “the gov’t never helped me” stuff? Yeah, about that:
- That no-frills State U. education you paid yourself through was so cheap because it was subsidized with tax dollars. The scholarship you earned, same deal.
- The road you drive on to work didn’t magically appear there. It was a gov’t project.
- You’ve likely never been hospitalized for food poisoning. Federal food inspectors do good work.
- Your business has been able to flourish in part thanks to protection from police and fire departments … UNION WORKERS and gov’t employees all.
- The Internet is a wonderful thing that makes wide dissemination of your ideas quick and easy, isn’t it? Yep, another innovation of the bloated, incompetent federal government.
- At this very moment you are paying my salary to defend your right to your poorly-formed opinion and to be callous toward your fellow man. You’re welcome, jerks.

This one’s a little hard to place, because there is video footage, and at about 0:22, you can see what looks like the guy setting up the shot—it looks like he hits the ground and scoots his feet under the scooter. http://www.buzzfeed.com/jpmoore/cop-runs-over-an-occupywallstreet-observer-and-th If this guy DID try and set up the NYPD scooter-cop, that is terrible. Because there are instances of ACTUAL police thug behavior, and if this guy is “crying wolf,” it’s going to make it all that more difficult for those suffering from actual violence to speak out.At the corner of Maiden and Water Streets I spoke to a National Lawyer’s Guild observer who said she watched a video of a police motorcycle run over another Lawyer’s Guild observer’s leg and then saw with her own eyes that man get pushed to the ground by police, be arrested and get thrown into a police van.
“He’s a legal observer with the National Lawyer’s Guild, he was observing the protest and he was run over by a police motorcycle,” said Zainab Akbar, 31.
Akbar said she watched the entire thing on the video camera of a protester and then watched with her own eyes the end of the incident, with the observer, whom she could only identify as ‘Ari,’ being arrested and put into the back of a police van.
“His leg was stuck under the bike and he kicked his leg to get the bike off his leg and then the police attacked him and shoved him into the ground and put a knight stick against the back of his neck,” Akbar said.This photo was taken by Joe Marino for the Daily News. He’s one of the photographers seen in this photo allegedly just standing there, taking pictures, instead of helping.
